Update: The last 3 weeks have been in in the 220 range. A plateau about 2 pounds down from the last one.
At this point BMI is TMI: a detour. Any 5 year old or trainer would simply say I am fat. No need to consult a BMI calculation or waist to hip ratio. Sometimes we distract ourselves by thinking about it too much. Everyone would agree I need to lose pounds and 190 was a reasonable target. So, I started by focusing on doing that. I am not opposed to research, BMI and 100 variables and techniques, however now all focus should be on getting into the proper range… then make adjustments based on BMI and other measures.
Now that I am on my way down I did some research and it seems 190 lands me 15-20 pounds above my ideal weight.
Goal of <190# for the rest of my life is good but more research showed that was still likely too heavy. When I went to look at weight charts/ calculators they indicated that 190 was too high. The range at various sites was:
162 to 177
141 to 177
149 to 183
The two that just gave a single number were: 168 and 166
So, I adjusted my goals down some more after i get below 190#
2013 Q1 = 176
2012 Q4 = 176
2012 Q3 = 176
2012 Q2 = 176 Maintain this weight.
