The Onion Networker #1

Networking is a journey and a way of life, not a destination

Networking is a journey and a way of life, not a destination

As promised on the The Freelance Life interview, here is the first installment of the information and tips.

The Freelance Life: Interview with Jim Sutton on Networking.  To listen to the recorded interview: Click Here.  To find out what an onion networker is, listen to the interview.   The explanation starts at the 6 minute point in the interview and lasts about 2 minutes.

The onion networker tip #1: Networking is a journey and a way of life, not a destination.   The picture of the feet is a reminder of that.

The onion networker tip #2: Networking is NOT about you.  It is about the other person!  Helping others it the key to building relationships: the foundation of a successful network.

Here are two networkers that have changed my networking life.  I connected with them both at 700 connections and they showed me the advantages of the pay-it-forward style of networking.  Both are open networkers, so feel free to send them a Linkedin invitation.  Be sure to tell them where you got their name: we all love to know where connections come from.
